In January 2020, we visited Pench National Park, and the experience was truly unforgettable. Despite the rain, which is uncommon for many safaris, we had the chance to explore the jungle during the rainy season for the first time.

A tree had fallen across the safari track, but a dedicated forest worker quickly cleared the path for us. Thanks to his efforts, we could continue our journey smoothly through the core zone.

Once we began exploring the Turia core zone, we spotted a spotted deer fawn peeking out from a thicket. Its curious gaze added a charming touch to our safari adventure.

Our driver and guide led us to a spot where a pair of Indian Scops owls are often seen. They looked exceptionally cute as they perched quietly, their large eyes peering out from the shelter of the trees. Despite the damp and rainy weather, the owls seemed perfectly adapted to the wet conditions, adding a magical touch to our wildlife experience.

Spotted Deers In Rain

As we ventured toward Alikatta, the central halting point known as the T-Section of Pench Tiger Reserve, we were treated to a magnificent sight. Before reaching this key location, we encountered a large herd of spotted deer, including both stags and does, grazing serenely in the lush, wet landscape. The sight of these elegant animals amid the vibrant greenery added a touch of tranquility to our journey.

As we navigated through the dense forest, our driver suddenly shouted for us to “stop” and pointed to a nearby tree. There, on a curvy branch, perched a changeable hawk eagle, proudly displaying an egret kill. Its piercing gaze was locked onto us, radiating a fierce and confident presence. The sight of this powerful predator amidst the thick foliage was a remarkable highlight of our safari.
